CBD’s
new client, Bay Audiology, has been deluged with calls from interested
doctors after launching their new hearing screener to the medical
media. Following the positive news coverage managed by CBD the nationwide
group received over two hundred calls from interested GP practices
wanting a screener.
Bay Audiology Director Peter Hutson said research
shows a large number of people have undiagnosed hearing loss but
the response to the screener announcement shows GPs are very motivated
to tackle the problem. “There is strong evidence linking
hearing loss with reduced social interaction and depression so
it is important to intervene as early as possible to improve patients’ quality
of life.”
GPs currently have a very limited array of diagnostic tools for hearing loss,
some as simple as finger clicking and whisper tests. The screener is a fantastic
step forward and gives a much more accurate and reliable result in as little
as 15 seconds. They will be arriving in GP surgeries from the 15th March.
CBD will be assisting Bay Audiology with an ongoing programme
to encourage hearing screening by the medical community and to
make the public aware of the new technology.
